Preserving Authentic Archival Footage
Archival Footage Service is an independent archive of analog home movies shot on 8mm, Super 8, and 16mm film, collected, digitized, and curated over many years.
The material offers an unfiltered view of everyday life across different historical and social contexts, conveyed through authentic, non-staged images often distant from official or institutional narratives.
The archive spans multiple decades and geographic areas and is conceived as a cultural and visual resource for editorial, documentary, and research use.
A selection of the films is available on our YouTube channel, while the majority of the archive is not indexed nor publicly accessible online.
We work daily to digitize and progressively make a larger portion of the archive available online, through ongoing publications and regular updates.

Access, Digitization & Licensing
All films in the archive are available for editorial, documentary, and research use.
Digitization is carried out using professional frame-by-frame equipment, ensuring an accurate and respectful acquisition of the original film material.
Files can be delivered in multiple formats, according to the needs of each project, and in different versions, including:
– stabilized versions
– overscan versions, showing the full film frame and perforations
Upon request, we can also provide advanced image restoration, including color correction, stabilization, and cleaning, while maintaining a conservative, film-respectful approach.
Licensing is handled directly and tailored to the specific requirements of each project.
The archive is not fully searchable online.
We offer research support, curated material selection, and the delivery of previews relevant to the intended use.
If you do not find the footage you are looking for online, please feel free to contact us and we will verify its availability within the archive.
To request access or licensing information, simply get in touch with a brief description of your project.
