Where do your films come from?

We acquire home movie reels from private collections around the world.
Often, they come from families, estate sales, or original filmmakers people who want their memories to live on.

Do you have written copyright transfer from the original filmmakers?

In many cases, the answer is no, and there’s a good reason.
Most of the films in our archive were created decades ago, often by private individuals who are no longer living. Because of this, formal copyright transfer documents are usually unavailable.
That said, this is a well-understood situation within the archival and documentary world.
As noted by professionals in the field, possession of orphaned home movies is typically considered sufficient for their reuse, especially when there’s no known claimant and the material is culturally or historically valuable.
To ensure peace of mind:
I hold the original physical reels, meaning no one else has access to the same material.
If your use falls under editorial or documentary purposes, you may also be protected by Fair Use principles (see the Best Practices in Fair Use for Documentary Filmmakers).
If you or your legal team need help understanding how this applies to your project, feel free to reach out.

What kind of license comes with the footage?

All footage on our website includes a Standard License that allows you to use the videos in commercial and editorial projects, including TV broadcasts, documentaries, YouTube, social media, and more.
There are no territorial restrictions, and the license is valid forever for the purchased clip.
For full details, you can read our license here:

If you need a custom or extended license for large-scale productions or sensitive contexts, feel free to contact us.

I just need a few seconds of one of your films, can I buy only that part?

We don’t offer custom edits or partial downloads of full reels.
However, we are progressively uploading shorter curated clips (under 59 seconds) from our films to our online Archive, available for €67 each.
You can browse what’s already available in the Archive section or contact us if you’re looking for something specific — our collection is large, and we’re adding new material every month.

Do you have more footage beyond what’s available on the website?

Yes, much more.
I regularly acquire new film reels, and a significant part of our collection is still being digitized or catalogued. So what you see online is just a portion of what we have.
In addition, we’re building a network of private archives and collectors, which means we can help you locate footage that isn’t publicly listed, sometimes even rare or unseen material.
If you’re looking for something specific, feel free to reach out, we might already have it, or we’ll do our best to find it for you.

Are the videos color corrected or restored?

The videos available on our website are stabilized and lightly color corrected, in order to preserve the charm and authenticity of vintage home movies, a look that many creators specifically seek.
We don’t remove all imperfections, because the grain, minor scratches, and film textures are often part of the appeal.
However, we do offer professional digital restoration services using state-of-the-art technologies.
If you need a clean version — with deeper scratch removal, dust cleanup, or enhanced color correction — feel free to contact us. We’ll be happy to help.
